I WUV YOU MOMMY

Good morning everyone!  I hope you have had a beautiful weekend!

Today I have a card for you created for the new Crafting When We Can challenge starting today.  Our challenge for you is to used some "Mixed Media".  We are being sponsored by Oddball Art.

So for me when I hear mixed media I immediately think of using ColorBurst from Ken Oliver.  So I pulled out my powders and got to work.  To Create this background I used four different colors (all listed below) and watercolor paper.  I used one color at a time and dried it before going on to the next to try and eliminate it being just one big blob.

After I was done with the colors I added a shimmer spray from Melissa Frances.  The shine is not showing real well above so here is another look.

This was taped down to the craft mat so as not to curl too much.  That's why the white edges.

After I had my background prepared I started to work on this adorable little boy called "Bedtime Hudson".  I didn't want him to cover too much of the background so I chose a very simple backing for him.  This is actually some yellow card stock.  I used some Distress Ink from Tim Holtz to get it to the color I wanted.

All that was left now was to give him a sentiment.  I searched through everything I had to try and figure out what he was saying and came up with nothing.  I even sent a photo to my sister and asked her.  Apparently I sent it too late in the evening because she said he is saying "Why is Roberta waking you up Becky?".  Hilarious isn't she!

I finally thought about my kids at that age and at bedtime.  The last thing always said to my children and back to me is "I love you".  Only at that age it comes out with a "W" sound so that's what I picked.

I hope you have enjoyed my journey into "Mixed Media" this week.  Please pop over to the CWWC challenge blog and check out all the other creations made to inspire you.  Can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day.

Lovely card Robin - such a pretty background, and a great idea to allow the colours to dry in between adding others - I tend to splodge them all on in one go and end up with mud! Sweet image and sentiment as well :)
