MY FIRST CANVAS

Hello all!  I am now entering another part of the art world.  This is the first canvas for me.  I started out with nothing that I ended up with.  I had made a mistake that I tried to cover up and it really was bad so I scraped everything off and started over.  I covered the canvas in Gesso so it would be a clean slate.  Here is a list of the products I used:

Dreamweaver Crackle Paste and Glossy Black Paste
Ranger Texture Paste Transparent and Stickles
Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Shabby Shutters, Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint, Fired Brick and Dusty Concord
Copics - YR16, Y08, Y00
Stencil from Wendy Vecchi
Dies from Heartfelt Designs, Gina Marie Deisigns and Darice
Stamp from Heartfelt Designs
Papers from Bazzill, Core 'dinations and generic
Sentiment is from Create with TLC
Stampin' Up Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
Glossy Accents
Ken Oliver Color Burst Yellow Ochre
Pearl is Queen & Co.
Flower is popped up with 3-D dimensionals and I used Heartfelt's techniques to make the flower dimensional too.

After I thought I was finished I took this over to my sisters house.

She gave me a few finishing ideas that really made a difference.  This included a different flower.  It was hard taking off the flower but I managed.  The different color and added touches made a huge improvement.  She is so talented!

My great niece said she wanted it and who could refuse this gorgeous face

So later today when we celebrate her daddy's birthday she will get a present too.  I just love this little angel.

I hope you enjoyed this.  Next canvas I will take pictures while making it so I can do a bit more to show you how I did it.  Since this was for me to hang up and be a bit of inspiration, the next one may very well contain the same sentiments.

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!

You did such a great job! What an amazing first canvas. I have made tons and tons and still end up scraping and gessoing to start again. That's part of the process. Keep up the beautiful work and how sweet to give to this little angel. <3

Robin, if you hadn't have mentioned that this was your first canvas, who would have known? I've only done a couple myself and I pretty much lost count of how many times I scraped off the paste and put on new gesso lol. You've done a wonderful job here. I love the crackle background and way that your butterflies look like a stained glass window. I also like the way that you've laid out the sentiments. The red flower makes more of a statement but the orange flower just blends in so beautifully. You are so lucky to have a crafty Sister to share your ideas with:) Thank you for joining us at Fashionable Stamping Challenges. Sandra X

What a lovely, lovey canvas you created... and isn't Gesso just the BEST! It is so freeing to know that if we "don't Like It" we can erase it but leave all that lovely texture! THANK YOU for joining us over at STAMPlorations for the June Mixed Media Challenge
