GRADUATION TIME

It's finally happened.  My youngest has graduated from high school.  Isn't she just gorgeous!!!
Her sister came up from North Carolina for the graduation too.  It's been a while since she's been here so I was so very excited to have her here.

Here she is after she got the diploma.

Well this is a quick one so I don't cry again.  She heads off to BYU in the fall.  I will miss that beautiful face every day.  I'm so very proud of her.  She graduated with honors too.

A ROOSTER FOR CANDY

Here's the card I made for my cousin Candy.  She just loves her chickens so I got this image for her thank you card.  My sister and I went to the Scrapbook Mega Meet over Mother's Day weekend with her.  We had such an amazing time.  I hope she likes it.

As I'm looking at this I see that I was a little crooked on the sentiment but I will have to say it will just add to the character since I can't take it off.  I really need to wear my glasses from beginning to end when doing a card.  Also I normally don't make my pics this large but I wanted to make sure you can all see the googly eyes.  When Candy and I were helping my sister to organize her craft room, Candy found so many googly eyes that she will have enough to last 3-4 lifetimes.  This image cried out for these eyes so I swiped some from her.  I love how they look and Candy will get a kick out of it.

YOU MAKE ME SMILE

Yesterday was my sister's birthday!  Happy Birthday Becky!  I was going to go to her house today but when she woke up she wasn't feeling well.  So since I get sick very easily I had to stay home.  My daughter had plans with a friend so I decided to play with some of my craft supplies.

I got out my new Color Burst by Ken Oliver, some stamps & embossing powders and started to experiment with them.  Here are some of the other backgrounds I made.

I took one of the backgrounds and thought this would make a good thinking of you card.  I searched for a sentiment from Create with TLC and added my new butterflies from Our Daily Bread.  Here is the inside.

I hope you enjoyed this and thanks for visiting me today!

Card Recipe:

Color Burst - Ken Oliver
Butterfly stamp and die - Our Daily Bread
Coloring medium - Copic markers & Memento
Background stamp & inside border - Stampendous

THANK YOU DANNY AND HAZEL

Here's a thank you card I made for my cousins Danny and Hazel.  When my sister and I went to Michigan for the Mega Meet, we spent time with them.  We had a lovely visit and I just wanted to let them know I appreciate the hospitality and taking us out for Chinese and then pizza.  It was nice getting to catch up.

I used some of the new techniques I learned at the demonstrations.  We took a class from Heartfelt where I learned to make these flowers.  At Sweet Stamps I learned to use enamel powders on their chipboard images.  Unfortunately, one of the ladies there heard my sister and I having a dispute about something and thought I was her mother.  She said we sounded just like her and her daughter.  Since our age difference is only three years my sister was ecstatic about the mistake.  It's all good though.  I don't take too much offense since she has been mistaken for being older than I am too...hehehe.  Here is a pic of the dragonfly that was demonstrated for us.  She did a much better job than I did.  I'm still learning though.

Tim Holtz used this same stencil to make a tag by using paste and embossing powders.  While the paste and powder did not come from him the stencil did.  He also gave me the tag he made with it.

I hope you enjoyed my card and thank you for your visit.  Have a wonderful day!

CONGRATULATIONS ALICIA!!

Welcome to another fantastic challenge at

Our challenge is "Bling it Up".  We love the bling!  CWWC is sponsoring this challenge and Ang is offering $10 Gift Certificate/Voucher for shop of winner's choice.

Thank you Ang!

I've made this card for my beautiful baby girl.  Alicia is graduating from high school and going off to college in the fall.  There are so many things to do and I'm stressing a bit.  She is such a great daughter and I am so proud of her.  She not only is graduating from school but also from seminary.  For four years she went to seminary in the morning before school.  This was not easy for either of us but we both made it.  She is also graduating with honors.

Isn't she just gorgeous!!  I know I'm a bit prejudice.  She doesn't like this picture, but since she never checks my blog I'm okay posting it...hehehe.

Her school colors are green and yellow but her favorite color is black so that is why I have chosen these colors.  She hopes the gown is green and not yellow.  She is not a fan of wearing yellow.  I'm so excited that her sister is coming from North Carolina to go to her graduation.  We just can't wait to see her.

I wanted to use some new stamps I got recently.  I used some Versamark and embossed with a glittered embossing powder so it would have some sparkle.  I also found free banner letters and numbers.  So I cut them out and made a sentiment.  I so hope she likes it.

Please stop by our challenge blog and check out all the wonderful creations by the DT and then put on your crafting tiara and join us this week in the challenge.

Thanks for your visit and have a most wonderful day!

SCRAPBOOK MEGA MEET

This past weekend my wonderful sister Rebecca and I went to the Scrapbook Mega Meet in Novi, MI.  Our cousin Candy from Candy Scraps lives there.  There was so much to see last year and we missed so much that we decided to go two days instead of one this year.

A big highlight of mine is always getting to see Tim Holtz demonstrate.  This year we watched him doing powders and paste.  I am new to mixed media and I'm enjoying it so much.  Here are some pics of the demo:

Tim made this and I asked if I could have it and he let me have it and even signed the back.

This is what I got from Tim.

We met a new artist that I had seen on line that I just loved.  His name is Ken Oliver.  He has a product called Color Burst.  It is powder that reacts to water much like the Bister line I have been using.  Only Ken's powders are bright and vibrant.  He was real fun to watch and I got some of his stuff too.  Here are some pics.

Here is the tag I got from Ken along with the paper and powders I bought.  He also let me have the paper you see him with after it was finished.  I would love to display it but I had to pinky swear not to as it contained some new powders that are still in trial form and cannot be displayed yet.

I'm so excited to get to use these.  There were so many wonderful people there and we met so many of the companies that I enter challenges in.

Two more wonderful companies are Sweet Stamps and Craft Fantastic.  I got these fabulous items from Sweet Stamps.

The owner made that dragonfly and let me keep it.  I'm all about the dragonflies and butterflies.  I just love them.

Craft Fantastic makes jewelry and charms.  I made the two necklaces you are about to see and the next pic is the bounty I acquired there.

I see some Christmas gifts in the making here.

Now the rest of the score I bought.

This is from Our Daily Bread

Rebecca and I took a class from Heartfelt.  These are the cards we made and the stamp I got from them.

This was a door prize that I won.  I thought I would use it for my daughter's upcoming graduation from high school.

Here are new brads.  Of course they are butterflies and dragonflies.

We had so much fun.  This has been the best Mother's Day I think I ever had.  Thank you Beck.  You are the best sister ever.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER

Many of you may know my sister Rebecca from Sydney's Sentiments.  Her birthday is coming up on May 25.  I won't share how old she is because she is my younger sister.  Recently she has been teaching me a lot of mixed media art.  She even bought me some Bister powders to play with.  I made this background with them.

I decided to do somewhat of a tutorial on this card.  So here goes:

I started out with some watercolor paper, Bister powders and a small paintbrush.

As you can see I only put a small amount of powder on the paper.

Then I spritzed with some water.  The more water you use the more diluted the color.  Then I dried it with a heat gun.

I wanted more color so added a bit more and some yellow.

My next step was to use this stencil I bought.  My sister loves her birds and I thought she would like this.  I did the top in black.

Then I did the bottom in white.  The paper was smaller than the stencil so I moved the stencil to get more birds out of it.

Here is my finished background.  I took this and mounted it my cardstock then added my Happy Birthday to it.  I used a die and cut it out five times in black and once in green.  I glued them all together and added some Glossy Accents to it.

On the inside I used some Distress Ink and then stamped with a sentiment I had.  Green is her favorite color and I'm sure she is going to love this.  She and I are about to head to the Scrapbook Mega Meet tomorrow and I'll give it to her then.  We are leaving the families behind and going to have some sister/cousin time as we will be meeting our cousins Candy from Candy Scraps and her mom.  We had so much fun last year that we decided to make it an annual trip.

Well I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial.  Have a wonderful day!

Card recipe:

Paper - Canson & generic
Inks - Bister, Tim Holtz Distress, Momento & Brilliance
Stencil - The Craft Workshop
Die - Frantic Stamper
Sentiment Stamp - Stampendous
Glossy Accents

TEXTING FRIENDS

Welcome to our newest challenge at

The challenge this fortnight is "One for the Kids" and we are being sponsored by

I've been given this wonderful image "Texting Friends".  It's so cute and reminds me so much of my daughter and her friend.  They are constantly on the phone texting each other...even when they should be studying.  It drives me absolutely nuts.  What is a parent to do.

Here is the inside of the card.  When I saw this sentiment from from Create with TLC, I just had to have it for this image.  I thought it was so my daughter.  I also had some trouble trying to decide on a color for the shirts so these are paper pieced.  I really love how it looks with a pattern on the shirts.

When I was looking for a background for this card, I ran across some papers that my sister and I made when we were playing with her Dylusions sprays a few weeks ago.  I had never used them before and using watercolors was so new to me.  This paper is the first one I made.  I thought these colors looked so good together that I kept it.  I'm so happy I did.

I hope you will pop over to the CWWC blog and check out all the other fabulous creations by the DT members.  Don't forget to leave them some love.
