THANK YOU BECKY

A while back my sister asked me to create something just after reading a self help book that I had started.  It's helping me get through some things that need dealing with.  Anyway, after reading until I could not read anymore I turned to my art.

My wonderful sister just bought me some powders called Bister.  You put a little powder on the paper and spritz it with water.  I used the red, yellow and blue powders.  They have many different colors in them.  Becky also gave me a sunburst stencil and some modeling paste.  So I added a sunburst in the corner.  Then I added some red and yellow ink on top of it. This had to dry so I let it sit all night to dry.

The next morning I added some stamps to the paper.  I have had this stamp set for years and never used the little dragonfly before.  I thought using it in white would bring some light into my card.  This is something I have never done before.  Becky said she really liked it so I made her this card to say thank you.  She is helping me go outside my comfort zone and create things very different than I have ever done before.

Becky, our cousin Candy and I have started to challenge each other to create projects.  They have each issued challenges and then it came to my turn.  So this was the challenge that I issued:

Create your own background and use a stencil.

So here is my card for this challenge.  I hope you like it.

Card recipe:

Bister powders
Studio 490 Sunburst
Liquitex modeling paste
Papers from Canson, Bazzill and generic
Thank you die from Elizabeth Crafts
Glossy Accents
Stampin' Up Garden Green Ink
Brilliance Moonlight White Ink
Foliage and dragonfly stamp I'm not sure where from as the package was lost

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Welcome to another fabulous challenge brought to you by

Our challenge is "For a Couple" and is being sponsored by

I have been given this cute stamp called "Bird House Spring Love".  I just love it.  You may know that my sister Rebecca has five parrots.  They are adorable and so funny.  They also have several bird feeders outside as she and her husband are such bird fans.  I saw this and just had to have it.  I modeled these birds after her bird Sydney.  Isn't she just gorgeous!!

This is a picture of her at Christmas a few years ago.  She has many more yellow feathers now and even some red on her tail.

Here's a Top Tip for you today - you can use your Copic (or any other alcohol markers) to color your clear gems the color you want them.  I used clear gems in the center of each flower and colored them yellow.
Here is the inside of the card.  I had intended to put this sentiment on the front but it was a bit too big so I opted to put it on the inside.

Please stop by the CWWC blog and check out all the wonderful projects the DT have created and then put on your crafting tiara and join us in the challenge.

Card recipe:

Coloring mediums - Copic & Prismacolor markers, Glossy Accents, Wink of Stella
Papers - Bazzill & generic
Gems - Darice
Pearls - Michael's
Embossing folder - Darice
Sentiment - Stampin' Up (outside) Our Daily Bread (inside)
Punch - Fiskars
Ribbon - from a candy win so I'm not sure

CRAFT DAY WITH THE KIDS

Each year my wonderful sister Rebecca designs a craft day with our nieces and another little girl who belongs to her best friend from childhood.  She designs a Mother's Day gift and the girls create it.  This year her bird Sydney helped as well.

Here are some pics of the girls making the craft.  They are working with mixed media and designing canvas art for their moms walls.  They had so much fun.

Check out their blog to see more pics and the completed work!

Each project will be posted separately.   Please leave them each some love.  They get so excited when someone leaves them a comment.

Have a fabulous day!

BELLA BUBBLE FAE GOES TO DRAGON LAND

Has it been two weeks already!  That just means it's time for another fabulous fortnightly challenge at

The challenge is "Sing Me A Song".  Create a card based on the lyrics of a song.  Our sponsor this time is

I've been given this cute image called "Bella Bubble Fae".  She's so adorable and I just love that little dragon.  My daughter had given me the idea of using the song from a children's show we used to watch all the time.  It's called "Dragon Tales".  She used to sing the song to me all the time and can still recite the poem that would take the children to dragon land.  It was a really an adorable children's show.

I wanted to do a pink card but realized I had no plain pink paper.  I wanted to emboss it to go behind the image.  My sister said I should use an ink pad to color some white paper.  It worked out just great.

Please stop by the CWWC blog and see all the gorgeous creations from the DT.  I do hope you will join us in the challenge.

Card Recipe:

Coloring mediums - Copic & Whisper Strokes markers, Wink of Stella, glossy Accents
Papers - Core 'dinations, DCWV & generic
Embossing folder and die - Darice

FAMILY CHALLENGE #3

Hello my lovely sister and cousin.  It seems that it is my turn to issue a challenge.  For those of you not aware, my sister Rebecca of Sydney's Sentiments and my cousin Candy of Candy Scraps and I have been challenging each other to use new items or do things outside our comfort zones.  Both Rebecca and Candy have been crafting much longer than I have and have used many more items than I have.  Going outside my comfort zone probably won't be so uncomfortable for them.

In that spirit I would like to use things that Rebecca is just now teaching me to do.  The challenge I wish to issue is to make a card using a background that you created by using a stencil.  This is difficult for me so I am giving you three weeks to make this card.

If you so choose to accept please let me know.

Lots o' hugs!

CHRISTMAS IN APRIL

As I was sitting watching General Conference (It's a conference from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - see previous post) I was thinking of not only the resurrection of  Christ but also the birth.  I had this stamp set sitting near my computer and thought of the joyful news the angel brought on that glorious day.  I felt inspired to make this card.

I have had this set since I started crafting and have done little with it.  I don't know why because I really love this set.  I used Distress Ink on the front using the crinkly stamp and music notes and to color the ribbon on the inside.  I could not find a ribbon that matched in color...even though I have so many ribbons.  I used two different embossing powders that I thought went well together.  I also punched out several snowflakes, glued them together and added some Glossy Accents to shine it up.

Here is the inside.  I ran the ribbon through the edge punch to change it up a bit.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today and have a Happy Easter!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENNY!

We have a dear young man in our church named Kenny who turned 14 this week.  He suffers from severe autism.  His father can be seen many a Sunday walking around with Kenny to keep him under control as he is prone to outbursts.  I saw his mother this week and she asked that I come to his birthday party.  I knew it would make Kenny very happy to see people on his day so I decided I would make him a card and go to his party.

Kenny greeted me on the porch with a big hug.  He has also discovered the Eskimo kiss of noses.  I don't think I have ever received so many Eskimo kisses at one time.  He enjoyed his card and put it in his pocket for safe keeping.

I got to use some new stuff for this card.  I forgot to take a pick of the inside where I used a new birthday sentiment stamp but on the front I used my new die from Frantic Stamper.  I cut this out five times and glued them all together for more of a chipboard feel.  It was then covered in Glossy Accents to make it shine.  Even on a boy card I can find a place for my Glossy Accents.  I just love it!

Thanks so much for visiting me today and have a
HAPPY EASTER!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PASTOR

I have a friend who has asked me to make a card for her pastor who will be having his 40th anniversary on April 11.

I had a hard time picking out the recipe for this.  I don't make cards for men very often as our family is primarily female.  I have two nephews but that's it.  I wasn't sure if Happy Anniversary is the appropriate sentiment (even though it is an anniversary).  Anyway I wanted this to be religious in nature.  So along with the sentiment on front I have added a scripture on the inside.

The flourishes die I have had for a long time.  I think it was my first one.  I wanted it to be of some substance so I cut out several and glued them together then covered with Glossy Accents to make them shiny.

I hope she is happy with it.  Otherwise I'll be back with a different card for him.

Card recipe:

Paper - Core 'dinations
Die & stamps - Our Daily Bread (set made to go together)
Embossing folder - Darice
Embossing powder - Ranger Super Fine in black
Flourishes - Sizzix & covered in Glossy Accents
Charm - Charm Gallery
Scripture - Word Art Wednesday
