Going to the ball

Isn't she beautiful?  I just love Saturated Canary images.  Just gorgeous.  I hope I did her justice.  I started to do this for an upcoming DT challenge but I just couldn't get it right for that so I did a "have it my stash card".  I thought this would go nice for a birthday or just to say hello.  Saturated Canary is having a challenge this week entitled "Dotty".  I picked out some paper to meet that one.  Also, I think her hair may count for that as well.  In their challenge this week for each entry received, Saturated Canary will donate $1 to Susan G Kolmen for the Cure in honor of a fellow crafter named Jen who is going through a battle with cancer.

I colored her with Whisper Strokes, Stampin' Up and Copic markers.  I have barely started my Copic collection so I still need to use others.  I added some Stickles by Ranger and Glossy Accents to make her sparkle and shine.  The pearls in her hair are Kaiser Craft.  All the design papers are online papers.  They come from Papercraft Inspirations, Free Vintage Digitals and A and T Digital.  The other papers are from Core 'dinations and my stash.  The ribbon I used comes from Offray.  I have a big drawer full of ribbon but this particular one I have had for a while just waiting for that right card.  I'm not sure if this is the one I was waiting for but I figure it's better to use it up than it is to have it in a drawer looking pretty.

Finally, the roses are from a candy that I won from Julie.  I don't know the company though.  There were so many wonderful things in the box she sent.  I don't know who was more excited - me or my niece Cortlynn.  She opened the box with me.  She loves to craft too and has her own blog that she shares with her sister Cara.  You should stop by and give them some love.  They adore getting comments.  Their blog is called Sassy Sisters.  That name totally suits them.

I am entering into the following challenges:

Scrapalicious - Anything goes
Tammy's Scrapin' Corner #25 - Lots of layers
Bearly Mine #50 - Anything that glitters
Use it Tuesday #38 - Use that ribbon
Penny's Paper-Crafty #91 - Sparkle and shine
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything goes
Little Miss Muffet #42 - Pink, pink, pink

Thanks so much for visiting today.  Have a great day!

School's back in session. YEA!!!!!!

I'm so excited.  This is the second best time of the year.  The only thing that can beat it is Christmas.  So what time of year is so great?

BACK TO SCHOOL

The kids are in school again.  I thought I wasn't going to make it through the summer.  I have my nieces all day every day and they are quite a handful.  Always bored even though they have more toys than any child I have ever seen along with a backyard full of equipment and a pool.  They have kept me quite busy all summer.  I decided to celebrate my first day off sleeping and my second making this card to commemorate the occasion.

This lovely image and the school paper come from The Paper Shelter.  They have so many cute little kids.  I colored her with Whisper Strokes, Stampin' Up and Copic markers.  I know that is a weird combo but I am trying to go to alcohol markers and off of watercolors.  They just work so nicely.  I added some Stickles by Ranger on her purse and her glasses.  I also added Glossy Accents to give the glasses the glass look.  The sketch is from Hanna and Friends.

The remaining papers come from Bazzill, The Paper Co., and my stash.  I used a word stamp inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink for the background paper. I got the stamp at Achiever's but can't remember who the stamp comes from.  The sentiment is something I did on Word and used a little Tim Holtz there as well.    The die cut is Spellbinders and the floral comes from Petaloo.  Finally, the ribbon is Darice.

I am entering into the following challenges:

The Paper Shelter #78 - Anything goes
One Stitch at a Time #127 - Back to school
Robyn's Fetish #121 - Use a digi
The Crafty Pad #184 - Back to school with primary colors
Craft Your Passion #124 - Use three of something

Thank you for visiting me today.  I hope you enjoyed your stay.

Sherrie's Birthday

Sherrie's having a birthday!

My sister-in-law is having a birthday today!  She and my brother have been kind enough to let my daughter and I live with them while I await word on my social security benefits.  I have not been able to work due to a back problem for quite some time.  I've been living with them for just over a year now.

Her kids told me her favorite colors are pink and green, so I thought I would make those the colors for the card.  Sherrie does not like chocolate so I made sure to make her a yellow cake.

This gorgeous image comes from Sassy Studio Designs.  I colored her with Whisper Strokes, Stampin' Up and Copic Markers.  The ribbon was some I won at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The designer paper is from Create with TLC. The other papers are The Paper Co. and Bazzill.

These are the challenges I am entering:

Corrosive #155 - They say it's your birthday

Emily we will miss you

I am part of the Young Women's program at my church.  One of the beautiful young women in our group graduated from high school and is on her way to Brigham Young University.  We are all so proud of her.  She is truly a bright, shining star in our lives.  I'm sure she will do fabulous and I can't wait to see her on her first visit home to tell us all about it.

I was trying to find the right image for this card and searched my vast stock then came across this lovely butterfly.  I thought of Emily flying away as my own daughter did four years ago.  I thought this would be perfect.  It comes from Create with TLC.  I love that blog.  She's always giving away free images and sentiments.  The sentiment on the inside comes from them too.  I colored with Whisper Strokes markers, Glossy Accents and some Stickles from Ranger.

I went around looking for a sketch and found this lovely one over at Scrapper's Delights.

This sketch went just perfect with the image I chose.  The papers I used are Bazzill, Core 'dinations and my Stash 'O Scraps.  The die cut used is Spellbinders and the punch comes from Martha Stewart. I added a flower from Prima Flowers and the butterfly is Bo Bunny. The sentiment on the front I did on Word and punched it out with a punch from EK Success.  Finally, I used a ribbon that I won over at Really Reasonable Ribbons.

I am entering into the following challenges:

Dream Valley #38 - Dies cuts and punches
Really Reasonable Ribbons #53 - Bling and ribbon

The picture on the wall is from Steady On.  I cut out the books and girl then reprinted the picture on the brown and paper pieced them together and popped some of the images up with some foam tape.  I sparkled up a bit with Stickles and Glossy Accents.  The papers are Bazzill and The Paper Co. The ribbons are Really Reasonable Ribbon, heart brads from Reflections and finally the cute little bear is from Inky Impressions.
