Carrie in the City

Here it is.  The last Sassy in the City image from the fabulously talented Lindsey at Sassy Studio Designs.  This one is Carrie.  Isn't she just gorgeous! The challenge is to use one of the cities Carrie lived in (either New York or Paris).  I chose Paris.

My lovely and talented sister (Rebecca) sent me a tutorial and asked me to do that card so here it is.  This card is called "File in the Middle".  The card is from Dawn (sorry I don't know any more) and here is the link http://www.youtube.com/user/dawn5377/featured.  I didn't have the exact size circle punch as she used but I think I did pretty good.

I colored her with Whisper Strokes markers and a bit of Stickles by Ranger and popped her up with some 3-D foam tape.  The Eiffel tower is from Free Vintage Digital Stamps, the first sentiment is Create with TLC and the second is my own.  The stamp is Stampendous using Tim Holtz distress ink.  I used two dies - Stampin' Up and Spellbinders and a 2" circle punch by Picture Perfect.  The papers are Core' dinations and generic.  The flower is from Petaloo.  Finally the white papers are distressed with another Tim Holtz.

I am entering into the following challenges:

Sassy Studios Designs - Sassy in the City 4
One Stitch At A Time #119 - Summer dresses
Simon Says - Depth of Distress
Ladybug Crafts - Double Trouble (used 2 dies)
Pixie Dust Studios - Travel
Frosted Designs - Circles
Card Crafter's Circle #29 - Construction cards
Allsorts #161 - In bloom
Sweet Stampin' - Scallops

Wish me luck!  Thanks for visiting.

Miranda in the City

This is challenge #3 in the Sassy in the City Relay Challenge.  The challenge is a CAS card.  I looked all around for a sketch to use (since I am loving sketches so much) and could not find one that fit the CAS theme.  I found nothing that worked for me.  They were all too elaborate.  I was stuck.  Then I remembered why I had turned to sketches to begin with.  All my cards were just so simple.  I was no good at designing elaborate cards.  The bells started ringing and so here we are.  My own sketch that is CAS.

This is Miranda from the new collection.  She is colored with Whisper Strokes markers and some Stickles by Ranger.  I just can't make anything without a little sparkle.  The papers are from DCWV, Core'dinations and Bazzill.  The ribbon is from Offray.

I have entered into the following challenges:

Sassy Studio Designs - Sassy in the City Relay
One Stitch At A Time #119 - Summer dresses
Fab 'n' Funky #127 - Cute and girly
Fairy Tale #44 - Pastels/soft colors
Charisma Cards #25 - Anything goes
Party Time Tuesday #74 - Anything goes

Samantha in the City

WOW!!! How hot is this image.  She is Samantha from the new Sassy in the City collection.  Over at Sassy Studio Designs they are having a relay.  In order to get the image we have to create from the previous image.  Having never seen the show I had to rely on my sister (the fabulously talented Rebecca) to let me in on the characters.  Since Samantha is is so flamboyant, I decided she should be in a shiny red dress.  The challenge is so appropriately "bling, bling".

I colored her with Whisper Strokes markers and Stickles by Ranger.  Her earrings and bracelet are done with a gold metallic pen.  This sketch is from The Crazy Challenge.

There was a lot of bling in this sketch so I thought it worked fabulously with Samantha.  I used papers from The Paper Co., Create with TLC (added Glossy Accents to this one to make it shine) and my Stash 'O Scraps.  I have added pearls from Recollections and Queen and Co.  The floral is by Petaloo. Ribbons are Offray and Darice.  The die cut is my new one from Spellbinders Nestabilities.

I have entered her into the following challenges:

Sassy Studio Designs - Samantha with bling, bling
The Crazy Challenge #123 - Sketch
The Squirrel and the Fox #20 - Make it sparkle
Clear It Out - Anything goes with ribbon
Shelly's Images - Show us what you got

Charlotte in the City

Sassy Studio Designs is doing it again!  They are having a Sassy In The City relay.  This is the first image - Charlotte.  The challenge is Friends.

I colored her with Whisper Strokes markers, white gel pen, some Stickles by Ranger (I just love Stickles) and my lovely daughter added some Glossy Accent on her hair and lips to make them shiny.  This design comes from Sweet Sketch Wednesday seen below.  The papers come from DCWV, The Paper Co. and my Stash 'O Scraps.  I embossed with circles from Darice and used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  The brads are from Stampin' Up and the pearls from Queen & Co. The ribbons are from Darice and Offray. Finally I punched the borders with a Martha Stewart border punch.

I didn't make this for anyone in particular but I'm thinking of sending it to someone very special to me.  I hope she will love it.

I am entering into the following challenges:

Sassy Studio Designs - Sassy in the City Charlotte
The Corrosive Challenge #152 - Summertime Girls

Crafting When We Can Challenge #21

We have another fabulous challenge here at Crafting When We Can!  This fortnight we want you to create a card using the theme Summerfun!  Our sponsors for this challenge are:

MilkCoffee

&

Crafty Ribbons

This adorable image is called "Let's Go Fishing".  Totally appropriate.

I have colored him with Whisper Strokes markers with some Stickles by Ranger and some Glossy Accents on his boots to give that rubbery look.  I embellished with some fish from Digital Delights, border punches from Martha Stewart for the flowers and butterflies, ribbon from Westwater and sentiment from my stash.  The papers are from Bazzill and DCWV. The background I stamped with a crackle stamp and distress ink both are Tim Holtz.

This is my first attempt at a step card.  It was a little harder to decorate than a regular card but I think I did OK.  I hope you do too.

I have entered this card into the following challenges:

Simon Says - Use a bit of brown
Dutch Dare Card #170 - Summer Fun
My Mum's Craft Shop #62 - About the boys
Scrapalicious USA - Summertime

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will all stop over and see what the other DT have created over at Crafting When We Can!

Inky Impressions DT Call

This card is serving multiple purposes for me.  I have a friend at church who is having a difficult pregnancy.  I wanted to send her a card with my prayers.  She has been on bed rest for over a month.  I talked to her today and she is feeling better.  Please send your thoughts and prayers to Lisa.

I am entering this card as a DT try out for Inky Impressions.  This image is from Inky Impressions too.  Her name is Lili.  I got her at a craft fair I went to with my family and friends.  I was fortunate enough to meet the owners and some of the DT.  I was thrilled when I saw they were having a DT call.  I just love these images. They are so cute and sweet.  Wish me luck!

This sketch comes from Sketches by Carly.  I love using sketches.  It gives me a chance to try new things (also takes some of the brain work away for me and I can concentrate on coloring).  Here is the sketch I used:

To color Lili I used Whisper Strokes and Stampin' Up markers with some added Stickles from Ranger.  I used Glossy Accents on her bracelet to pop it up a bit.  The papers are from DCWV, The Paper Co. and my Stash 'O Scraps.  I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink to add a bit of green to one of the papers.  The stitching is generic thread. Finally I used an Offray ribbon.

These are the challenges I have entered into:

Inky Impressions - DT call - Lots of layers and a bit of stitching
Simon Says - Anything goes

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Thanks for stopping by!

Crafting When We Can Challenge #20

Welcome to Challenge #20 at Crafting When We Can.  This week our challenge is Mint Chocolate Chip.  You need to use mint green and brown.  We are sponsored by

Don't you just love this image.  She is from the Glam Gang collection appropriately named Troublemaker.  When I saw this I immediately thought of my nieces.  It seems one of them is always getting into trouble.  The dripping ice cream is so them.  They will actually set down an ice cream cone or Popsicle and expect it to still be frozen when they get back.  Just like a child to think it wouldn't melt.

I colored my little Troublemaker with Whisper Strokes markers and added some Stickles by Ranger to sparkle her up.  This design is a sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

The papers come from Hot Off The Press, Bazzill, DCWV and my Stash 'O Scraps.  I embossed the papers with Darice.  I thought the bubble texture just went great with her.  The ribbon is also from Darice and the flower is from Petaloo.

Head on over to our challenge blog Crafting When We Can and check out the other DT's fabulous creations.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit.  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.  I made this card for my niece's to give to their father (my brother).  I have been trying to get them to sit down and make a card but it's summertime and I just can't get them to.  They are constantly running around outside.  At least they are getting a lot of fresh air.

To make this card I used an image from Platypus Creek Digitals. I colored the flowers with Whisper Strokes markers and popped them up with 3-D foam tape.  The sketch is from Sketch Saturday.  I have included the sketch below.  The papers are from The Paper Co., Bazzill and my Stash 'O Scraps.  I used an embossing folder from Darice and die cut from Sizzix.  Finally the buttons came from Bo Bunny.

I have entered this into the following challenges:

Platypus Creek #8 - For the boys
Pile It On #23 - Put a button on Father's Day
Cards for Men #12 - Father's Day
Simon Says - Anything goes
The Poodles Parlour - Father's Day/male card
The Stamp Man - Make it for a man
